On 2 Nov 1789, Absalom Tyler, Sr. of Winton County, South Carolina deeded 192 acres of land on waters of South Edisto adjacent to John Fisher, Sarah Rutledge to Benjamin Odom. Witnesses: Wilson Cooke, Jr., John A. Obannon, James Obannon. Proved by John Obannon on 2 Nov 1789. Recorded on 22 Nov 1790. (Source: Winton (Barnwell) County Deed Book 1-a.)

At the 1790 U.S. Federal Census, the Benjamin Odom household resided in Orangeburg District of South Carolina. Living in the household in addition to Benjamin Odom, were a male less than 16 years of age and six females.

On 5 Jan 1801, the Will of Benjamin Odom was filed and his estate was administered in Barnwell County, South Carolina. Thomas Odom and George Odom, brothers of Benjamin Odom, served as administrators. (Source: File 8-2, Barnwell County, South Carolina)

On 6 Feb 1804, the Heirs of Benjamin Odom deceased assigned power of attorney to Gideon Haygood, Darling Peoples, Gasper Trotti, LawrenceTrotti, George Lathan to divide the land and property of Captain Benjamin Odom. The division of the estate was as follows:

Tamer Odom, widow to have one third;

To children:

Levin Collins, residing in the state of Georgia, to have one share in the right of his wife, Catherine Collins (Odom);
James Collins, residing in Barnwell County, South Carolina to have one share in the right of his wife, Mary Collins (Odom);
Lydia Odom, residing in Barnwell County, South Carolina, to have one share in her own right;
Dorcas Collins (Odom; Lee) deceased; her heirs to have one share and all residing in Georgia;
Lewis Lee, the first husband of Dorcas and now deceased and one child, Mrs Sarah Durett (Lee), to have one portion;
Joseph Collins, the second husband of Dorcas, and living in Georgia and two children, Mary Collins also know as Polly Collins, to have one portion;
