The 1853 Reference Map of the State of Louisiana by John La Tourrette depicts land owned by Col. W. P. Stone, west of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Between 1850 and 1853, William Patrick Stone established Stonington Plantation near Delta in Madison Parish, Louisiana, and died there on 6 Dec 1855.
