Obituary, Velma Nadine (Crittenden) Countryman

Velma Nadine Countryman, 78, of Caldwell, Kansas, retired letter carrier for the United States Postal Service died early Sunday Morning, June 20, 2004 at the Sumner County Hospital District Number One in Caldwell, Kansas.

She was born the daughter of Don Palma Crittenden and Maude Elvira (Hutchison) Crittenden on May 29, 1926 in South Haven, Kansas.

On July 28, 1946 she and Cliff Countryman were united in marriage in Wellington, Kansas.

Memberships include the Central Christian Church, Senior Center and TOPS all of Caldwell, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Survivors include her sons Gordon "Corky" Countryman of Akron, Colorado, Tom Countryman of Drury, Kansas, Stuart Countryman of Wellington, Kansas; daughter Beth Falkenberg of Caldwell, Kansas; brother Max Crittenden of Wellington, Kansas; sisters Dorothy Glick of Wellington, Kansas, Bonita Mahannah of Denton, Texas, Donna Browning of Arlington, Texas, and Marlene Parret of Clearwater, Kansas; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Velma will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at the Central Christian Church. Pastor Steve Allen will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2004 and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2004.

Interment will be in the Corzine Cemetery in Corbin, Kansas.

Memorials have been established in her name and loving memory with Central Christian Church~Building Fund, 206 North Market, Caldwell, Kansas and Caldwell Senior Center, 428 North Chisholm, Caldwell, Kansas. Contributions can be left at the funeral home or mailed.
