Biography notes for William Sednor
William Sednor of Egerton was born in about 1435. He may have been a son of John Sednor, who appeared on the East Kent Court Rolls of Knolton for 1429, and his wife Katherine Sednor (Whiting).

William Sednor of Egerton made a Will on 15 Sep 1483, naming his wife Katherine; two daughters, Margaret and Alice Sednor; and three sons, William, Thomas, and Richard Sednor. His Will devised numerous properties including places bearing names of Little Scarletts, Great Scarletts, Little Town, Old Field, Vynnysland, and 12 other tracts of land in Egerton and Bocton Maleherbe (Boughton Malherbe) called Kenthirden and Holneys, as well as a messuage at Frethisforstall.

William Sednor attended Saint James Church in Egerton and is buried there.

Wife Katherine to have certain rights within the principal messuage.

First named his son William Sednor, Jr. to whom he bequeathed his principal messuage. This messuage and unspecified acres of land were to deliver 16 shillings to be paid to Katherine annually for a period of time. The Will provides for seven years of payments and additional time for Thomas to reach the age of 22 years.

William Sednor also gave the land of Little South Field to William Sednor, Jr., provided the sale was not required to meet his oblications.

To his son Thomas Sednor his messuage at Elmhurst together with land of Little Scarlets , Great Scarlets , Little Town , Old Field , and Finnis Land.

To his son Richard, land of Holnys and Kenthirden. These 44 acres of land were to deliver 4 shillings to be paid to Katherine Sednor annually for a period of time.

Sale of Frith’s Forstall to provide for his obligations.

To daughters, Margaret and Alice Sednor, 5 pounds.

A monetary bequest to Robert Bachelor.
