Henry VIII granted the rectory of Cardinal Wolsey to Paul Sydnor for his services as an agent to the Court of Spain.

Paul Sydnour lived at Brenchely in Kent on an estate which he acquired from King Henry VIII after it was forfeited by Cardinal Thomas Wolsey. Paul was a barrister, having been admitted as an “Ancient” of Gray’s Inn in 1542.
