On 8 Dec 1798, the Augusta Chronicle published a list of those defaulting in Hancock County, Georgia during 1798. James Boswell appeared on the list for Captain Carter’s Militia District of Hancock County.

James Boswell died before 12 Mar 1808 when his property was appraised for probate in Hancock County, Georgia. Peter Dennis served as administrator of the estate and guardian of William Boswell, James Boswell, and Andrew Boswell. Also mentioned were sons Thomas Boswell and Alex Boswell.
