Lewis Emanuel ca (1775 - 1818)

Lewis Emanuel was born in Burke County, Georgia in about 1775, a son of David Emanuel, Jr. and Ann Emanuel (Lewis).

In Burke County, Georgia, on 2 Feb 1789, Lewis Emanuel served as a chain bearer with his father David Emanuel, Jr. to mark a 100 acre platt of land in the name of David Emanuel. On 7 Apr 1800, Lewis Emanuel appeared in Burke County Court.

During the period May 1803 – 1 Mar 1804, Lewis Emanuel registered for the 1805 Georgia Land Lottery and was entitled to one draw that was not successful.

Between 25 Feb 1808 and 23 Jan 1813, Lewis Emanuel served as Justice of the Peace in Burke County, Georgia.

On 29 Jul 1809, Lewis Emanuel owned land in Burke County, Georgia near land owned by David Lewis.

On 4 Jun 1813, Eli Emanuel, John Emanuel, Lewis Emanuel, Thomas Blount, Frances Wells, and Benjamin Whittaker, heirs of David Emanuel, deceased, made a deed in Screven County, Georgia to sell land originally granted to David Emanuel, deceased.

Lewis Emanuel died relatively young before 12 Jan 1816 when Eli Emanuel, Executor of his Estate, posted a notice in the Augusta Chronicle to make claims on the Estate of Lewis Emanuel of Burke County, Georgia. At his death, Lewis Emanuel was about 41 years of age.
