Family tree data on Ancestry.com suggest that Samuel A. Benjamin was born in 1790 at Cuyler in Cortland County, New York, USA and died on 12 Apr 1856 in Indiana. His parents may have been John Benjamin and Sarah Vincent Matthews, and his wife's given name may have been Rowena. The 1860 federal census, however, places a Samuel Benjamin, b:Abt 1784, in Cuyler, Cortland County, New York. It seems unlikely thatSamuel Benjamin returned from Seneca to Cortland County.
